Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

Repurpose is a good one to use.  We often just toss things and replace when they become worn out or old.  It's time to find a way to repurpose and repair in stead of simply replacing.

How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

It helps me stay focused on the good things that I already have in my  life, instead of feeling down about things I cannot control.

I enjoy exercising in a group, and have made friends in my classes.  It can also be fun to take the workout outside on occasion.

I have a son who is very sensitive to environmental factors.  We ended up moving due to his breathing problems as a child because of air quality issues.

What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

Certain diets definitely promote eating more protein and meat is the easiest way to do that.  However with planning and research, we can find different ways to maintain our protein without eating meat.

This last week I was also able to purchase 1/8 of a locally raised grass fed cow from a local farmer.  His name was Ironman (the cow, not the farmer).

I'm starting to get used to drinking without a straw.  But am still considering buying some stainless steel ones to compensate . . . .
