    Simplicity Track my Purchases
What have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?

I skipped on the daily coffee shop purchase for the last two days. Sticking to the coffee pot at work which is free, also doesn't have all of the sugar and carbs of my usually purchased drink. I also made better choices while grocery shopping, making a grocery list and limited the amount of items I bought that weren't on it.

    Energy Turn it off
How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

I did some research and found that most of our electricity is made from hydro, almost 50%. The second leading producer is still carbon.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

That makes me cringe. I could pay off my car 2 years earlier if I could use that money instead of wasting it on groceries that we throw away. Using Tupperware instead of plastic bags will also save me money each week and it will reduce the amount of waste each day.

I can uplug several lamps in my home along with my laptop plug in. I can update the last few light bulbs in my home with energy efficient light bulbs. I can make sure our lights outside of our house are turned off during the day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

I updated my last paper bill account to paperless. I no longer receive monthly bills in the mail. All of them are emailed to me. I shred any items that can not be sent by email, I need to start taking the shred bin to the recycling when it is full instead of throwing it in the trash.
