Poverty and homelessness is a problem in our area.  Both obviously affect human health.  We need more education for younger people in order to overcome either issue.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
Father Thomas Berry says, "...our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." Respond to Berry's assertion.

I think it is important to find something to celebrate every day.  Celebrating nature's beauty is one of the ways to do this.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

I love being outdoors.  It recharges me.  I think spending too much time inside leaves you unaware of the impact you have on our surroundings.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Simplicity Go for a Daily Walk
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

Taking a walk with my dog every day gives me time to think about the positive and enjoy her company.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Say No to Plastic Straws
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

Plastic ziplock bags, straws - could reuse bags, use cloth wraps and reusable metal straws.

I am new to the Eco-Challenge, but after reading all of the challenges, I believe this would be a very educational and rewarding challenge for me.
