  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Advocate for More Food Options
Given the impact of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers on both the natural world and our food systems, what do you think about the use of these products in agriculture?

I think the real challenge is in what we are willing to pay for food.  Pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers are all meant to increase production and gains in quantity.    The negatives though have a huge impact on society and in particular, our health care system.  Yet government typically under funds both the production and impact sides.  Hopefully, generations of the future will solve this issue.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?

This challenge has been a good learning experience so far.  After a week, I have been more focused on recycling, energy consumption, and more eco friendly purchases.

If you focus on what you are grateful for, it seems to help with the challenges that are thrown your way.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

Walking outdoors in a good way of incorporating nature into exercise.  Walking with folks at work is also a great way to get to know them better.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Bringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I am a big offender of prepackaged single serve items in the store (salads, fruit, etc.).  I will look at making my own salads and using reusable containers.  I can do the same with fruit.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

The stores I shop in always have reusable bags for purchase.  If I find myself in a situation where I need a bag, I will purchase a reusable bag if I am not able to carry the items out in my hands.
