My understanding in my state of Missouri is organizations such as USGBC, municipalities such St. Louis and Kansas City, both participating in the city energy project, and smaller municipalities with green advocacy committees, are making strides to reduce utility cost in buildings and CO2 levels, 30% of households are recycling, and there is a true investment in planting landscapes that benefit pollinators and  maintain  the use of native plants to our region.  When reviewing congressman and senators representing the state of Missouri there is little representation regarding sustainability.  I have not reviewed how State of Missouri representatives and the state as a whole deals with sustainability issues.  My understanding is the state does not currently support the use of photovoltaic panels; there are no current utility  incentives that support this.
