I felt really great about this challenge, hopefully we helped save the world for a few more generations!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Launch a Recycling Program
How might thinking creatively help us address big systems problems differently?

    Kim Fagan's avatar
    Kim Fagan 10/23/2018 2:25 PM
Thinking creatively could help us by, opening our minds and thinking out the box for some of the big problems we go through everyday
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health More Fruits and Veggies
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How can we start shifting from a meat-focused food culture to a more plant-based one?

    Kim Fagan's avatar
    Kim Fagan 10/23/2018 2:22 PM
I believe the prices of fresh fruits and vegetables contribute to this. Fresh produce is expensive compared to certain types of meat. Not to mention, Fast food also plays a part in that as well. Americans like things done fast, so fast food is a quick option where food is concerned. Also, you could probably purchase a double cheeseburger for just $2.00, but a bag of apples with run you $3-4.00
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Join a Local CSA
Dependable fresh food, better prices (cutting out carbon-heavy supply chain and grocery stores), supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these benefits (or others not listed here) inspire you the most?

    Kim Fagan's avatar
    Kim Fagan 10/23/2018 1:34 PM
Being able to support local farmers means a lot to me
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Learn More about Food Deserts
What are the implications of access to nutritious food for a community?

    Kim Fagan's avatar
    Kim Fagan 10/22/2018 1:15 PM
In communities where nutritious foods aren't readily available, you can see the impact in the people. More people will be overweight and suffer from a multitude of health issues.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Adjust the Thermostat
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

    Kim Fagan's avatar
    Kim Fagan 10/22/2018 1:10 PM
I actually pay attention to this information on my energy bill. They actually give you tips and suggestions on lowering how much energy your using. So, look over your energy bills each season to see what they're suggesting
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Install Alternative Energy
How is your region being affected by climate change? How will it be affected in the future?

    Kim Fagan's avatar
    Kim Fagan 10/19/2018 2:29 PM
Indiana is affected by the season changes. There seems to be little to no fall going directly from summer to winter. Fall seems to only last a few days to a week now, in the future we may literally have no fall at all.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Replace Manual Thermostats
How do you anticipate replacing your thermostats for programmable ones will positively impact your life?

    Kim Fagan's avatar
    Kim Fagan 10/19/2018 2:26 PM
It will help regulate the heating and cooling, leaving no need to adjust.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Use an Energy Meter
How can you make your home more energy efficient?

    Kim Fagan's avatar
    Kim Fagan 10/19/2018 2:10 PM
Replacing your light bulbs with energy efficient ones, unplugging unused devices, and  wash your clothes in cold water
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?

    Kim Fagan's avatar
    Kim Fagan 10/19/2018 2:08 PM
You can use your creativity to find new ways to store items, and also how to use things multiple ways to help cut down on clutter.
