How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

Oh my, the answer to that is the million dollar question. Especially with kids! I think making the question "Do I really need this?" or is it just quick, easy, shiny...  Trying to get my family to use the wait XX amount of time and think about any new acquisition.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Go by Bike
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

Biking puts me so much more in contact with my neighborhood/community! I see seals, fishing boats and tug boats at the locks on my route and I am reminded daily of goings on around me that I would not see from my car. : )
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

One step at a time to call and discontinue catalogs etc.... I try not to purchase anything in a single use container... making progress with bringing my own for the bulk bins at the store, using shampoo bars instead of bottles, or refilling bottles with bulk shampoo. Its a process. But the small successes are exciting!

I've used Catalog Choice to get rid of most of the mail coming into my mailbox... and signed up for paperless billing with my utilities, etc. It's so nice to not have to check the mail every day!
