Katherine Furlong 10/23/2018 6:50 PMIt’s been fun doing this challenge with s team from work - I can’t believe it’s slmost done. I’m sad that it’s been so hard to keep/make my sleep challenge. -
Katherine Furlong 10/22/2018 12:31 PMWe're almost done! It was good to assemble recycling last night and get clutter out of my house. I'm going to investigate getting my name *off of* all the catalog lists - I really don't need multiple Land's End catalogs arriving every other day. -
Katherine Furlong 10/20/2018 2:16 PMIt was good to take things to the Mustard Seed today and donate them knowing that I’m decluttering my home - and hopefully making someone else’s life better. -
Katherine Furlong 10/18/2018 12:27 PMDid you know that if you're eating in, you can ask for a nice ceramic mug at Panera? Makes your coffee much more civilized. Plus, no cup to toss! -
Katherine Furlong 10/18/2018 12:25 PMWhen flying home from meetings in Boston, I was once again able to flaunt my red aluminum water bottle. I got some grief from the TSA at Logan Airport, but it was worth it. Plus, saved $3 on expensive airport bottled water! -
Katherine Furlong 10/16/2018 7:40 AMAs I'm traveling and in meetings 12 hours/day, I can't meet my work/life balance - but a comfy hotel bed is great for my sleep goals! -
Katherine Furlong 10/15/2018 1:08 PMI'm prompted to say "why" I joined this challenge - in many ways it's because I care, because it's one of SU's strategic goals - and I want to have this planet be a better place for our students (and my family). And I get 5 points for typing in this box. -
Katherine Furlong 10/15/2018 1:04 PMTraveling and remembered to bring my own reusable water bottle, and refusing bags at airports. Winning. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Katherine Furlong 10/12/2018 12:14 PMI enjoy my coffee at work, and using a "real" mug actually makes it taste better - so this is turning into a win/win for me. -
Katherine Furlong 10/10/2018 11:26 AMSo I finally met the extra sleep goal, and feel better today. Much more focused.
I also had a good conversation with a colleague at the director level about the work/life balance goal. It does seem that different departments have very different interpretations of HR guidelines, and that my instinct about mixed messages is correct. Something to take up with HR when I have a chance. Fingers crossed for positive change.-
Tracy Powell 10/10/2018 11:40 AMSleep is so important!! Good for you.
