  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Support Local Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators?

    Amy Hargis's avatar
    Amy Hargis 10/09/2018 7:10 AM
Pollinators help to increase biodiversity, provide us with many things that we enjoy, and are creatures that have just as much right to exist as we do.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

    Amy Hargis's avatar
    Amy Hargis 10/09/2018 7:09 AM
I am able to see what is around me and enjoy new areas that I didn't know existed.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Take Control
How do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?

    Amy Hargis's avatar
    Amy Hargis 10/08/2018 3:01 PM
I think they all intersect because when you are in a healthier environment, you are more likely to take the time to focus on your own personal health.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Forage for My Food
Amongst the motivations for foraging are: a source of food; means of income; connecting with nature; cultural tradition; or transmitting "local ecological knowledge, and a means for stewarding local and native plant populations" (McLain et al. 2012, 13). Which of these would be your chief motivation and why?

    Amy Hargis's avatar
    Amy Hargis 10/08/2018 3:01 PM
Source of food would be the highest priority for me, although I think it would help me connect with nature while foraging.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Go by Bike
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

    Amy Hargis's avatar
    Amy Hargis 10/05/2018 8:26 AM
I am able to see more of what is around me when I travel slower and take my time to explore my community.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex agrarian transition to modern food systems?

    Amy Hargis's avatar
    Amy Hargis 10/04/2018 6:55 AM
Food sovereignty helps give people the ability to choose what to eat, where it comes from, and how it is grown.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

    Amy Hargis's avatar
    Amy Hargis 10/04/2018 6:53 AM
Fruits and vegetables that I can freeze for later use

    Amy Hargis's avatar
    Amy Hargis 10/04/2018 6:33 AM
I take time to fully understand the problem and determine if it's as big as I think it is. I try not to blow things out of proportion. I can help others cope by being a good listener.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Track my Purchases
What have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?

    Amy Hargis's avatar
