REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Limit Social MediaSocial media is a great way to keep us connected with loved ones, makes us laugh, and helps us to learn new things. It can also take more time than we realize or intend to give. After doing this action for a few days now, how do you feel? What do you notice?
Ryan Harvey 10/15/2018 10:41 AMthe laughter piece is a big one for me, but i think that the returns diminish the longer you stay plugged in. i'm liking my new routine of quickly checking in and reaching out to the people who i care about, and then getting away from it before getting pulled under the wave. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Ryan Harvey 10/15/2018 10:39 AMit's pretty easy to get discouraged. i don't think that putting my head in the sand is a good choice, but finding things to be thankful for can help counteract the daily newsfeed... (did i mention that new kate davies book on intrinsic hope?) -
Ryan Harvey 10/12/2018 2:39 PMit's a great day to spend some time thinking about reasons to be grateful. what a beautiful day!! -
Ryan Harvey 10/12/2018 2:38 PMit's a great day to think about all of the reasons to have gratitude. loving the sunshine! -
Ryan Harvey 10/11/2018 9:26 AMi went to the GoGreenPDX conference yesterday and was inspired to add a gratitude challenge! check out Kate Davies, who just wrote a book on intrinsic hope. she has some great things to say about how to continue to do good work, despite the current state of affairs... -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Track my PurchasesWhat have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?
Ryan Harvey 10/04/2018 8:58 AMi have already noticed that we tend to buy more food than we actually need. it's not that we waste it all, but one trip to TJ's on an empty stomach can result in a heap of snacks in the pantry that keep us from eating healthier options. and then when the carrot sticks or fruit in the basket aren't consumed right away, we don't replenish with additional good stuff. so essentially, our diets seem to be suffering when we're not planning things out. -
Ryan Harvey 10/04/2018 8:53 AMComing home to a decluttered living room makes for an easy transition to the next phase of the day. pretty sure the dog appreciates it, too, since she's there enjoying the space all day... -
Ryan Harvey 10/03/2018 11:12 AMi'm pretty stoked on the pear budget system of tracking purchasing and sticking to a budget. it goes hand in hand with our weekly meal planning! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My HomeHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Ryan Harvey 10/02/2018 11:04 AMmy wife and i just started a monthly budget, which will help to keep some of the impulse buys in check. we also have a "one-thing-in, one-thing-out" policy. i'd venture to guess that our Buy Nothing group is pretty happy with decision...
