    What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

    I still use the idiom "meat and potatoes" as a figure of speech and in context the meat is considered the more important of the two. This is how my generation was raised and it is still ingrained in meal planning a preparation for most of America today. I feel "Big Beef" and the mass producers of meat products have a lot to do with this. A good steak is a status symbol.

    In my opinion, education is the key to promoting a healthy "less meat" lifestyle. The sharing of statistics on the environmental impacts of meat production and the promotion of a plant based diet, in a digestible format, are the solutions to shift our culture.
