Kristin's actions
Waste
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by opting into paperless billing and ending unwanted subscriptions.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

Kristin Infanti 10/17/2018 11:58 AMA few weeks ago I was out in my yard gardening and two bald eagles swooped over me and my daughter's heads. It was cool and a little scary, but mostly cool. I didn't get a picture, but it is nice to see that they are making such a great comeback. We have a lot of Eagles and Red-tail hawks in our neighborhood.-
Louisa Lubiak 10/17/2018 2:34 PMWOW! An eagle sighting in your own backyard - Go Eagles!

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Kristin Infanti 10/05/2018 12:27 PMI ordered reusable silicone straws on amazon. My kids love them! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Kristin Infanti 10/05/2018 12:26 PMI have been using all of my reusable bags whenever I go shopping! Yah to limiting single use plastics! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? Do you know how your compost will be used and the benefits it has on the environment?
Kristin Infanti 10/05/2018 12:25 PMI have been composting all of my fruits and veggies everyday! My garden soil will be awesome next year!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Go PaperlessReducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Kristin Infanti 10/05/2018 12:24 PMI went on to the Direct mail marketing website and unsubscribed from all the random catalogs, credit card offers, and junk mail that I get. They charge you $2.00 for two years to get off of all the mailing lists. Now I will save paper, greenhouse gases, and my sanity!
