Rose's actions
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Food
Meet My Local Farmers
I will visit my nearest farm to find out who produces my food, and will learn about the quality of life of those who produce my food in other regions of the world to make better choices when I shop.
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 3 meatless meal(s) and/or 4 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Nature
Forage for My Food
I will use the 'Learn More' resources below to find where I can forage for my own food locally.

Rose Jackson 10/24/2018 3:07 PMI have been eating so many greens lately that I think it's finally starting to affect me in a positive way.....I've actually cut my portions when I do eat now and hoping that the outcome is gonna be positive with a little weight loss. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Rose Jackson 10/08/2018 11:09 AMI think the availability and the fact that people in North America are accustomed to eating meat has a factor in why we eat so much meat. I'm guilty too because I love my meat. I would prefer being a carnivore to being a vegan myself. Vegetables are good but meat is so much more filling and yummy to me. -
Rose Jackson 10/03/2018 12:20 PMI always have my own bags with me for shopping so I don't need plastic bags. When I lived on Maui, they outlawed plastic bags there so I bought lots of woven bags.
