Today is our date night, I am going to use it to explore a new area to walk in, loving the wonderful warm afternoons.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

We are so quick to run out and buy a new something when one breaks, when there may be someone you know that has an extra they aren't using. Social media makes it easy to ask.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?

I make an effort to not have the tv on, no phones at the table, and focus on the people that are there, and enjoying what I am eating.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Meditate
What would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?

My son recently moved for college, and I would really like to invest time into reflecting on what I want to do with my future.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?

You have to find different ways of doing things, we get used to doing things a certain way, and have to think outside the box to simplify our lives ironically.

I have heard people talk about opting out of junk mailings, does anyone have info on how to do so?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Take Control
How do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?

They are all related, when the environment around you is bad, such as fire season here, it affects your personal health in a negative way. Community health, especially when working in an office, can effect you. When one person gets sick, it usually makes its way around.
The other side is, when you find something to help your health, you can share it in your community and hopefully change it for the better.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Plant an Herb Garden
Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

I grow my herbs in the windowsill of my kitchen, it looks pretty and smells so delicious. The light is also perfect there. We have regular flowerbeds and also have a tree in a large bucket, it was a wedding gift and we want to take it to plant when we buy a house.

Looking forward to intentionally spending time outdoors this afternoon. The leaves are gorgeous and the weather is perfect for a walk. Hopefully the fresh air rids my lungs of all the germs from the office :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

For me, being spiritual, being in the outdoors helps me feel closer to God, which helps reinforce my sense of place, my sense of belonging in the world. There are less distractions, less electronics etc. I fills me back up.
