Amanda 's actions
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
Go get a check up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Health
Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my Home
I will spend 15 minutes researching toxic chemicals found in cleaning supplies and personal care products and remove them from my home.
Nature
Forage for My Food
I will use the 'Learn More' resources below to find where I can forage for my own food locally.
Energy
Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Water
Fix Leaky Faucets
I will fix faucets or report leaky faucets to facilities that have been wasting up to 9 gallons (34 L) of water per faucet every day.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by opting into paperless billing and ending unwanted subscriptions.
Health
Learn More about Food Deserts
I will spend 30 minutes learning about food deserts and find out how I can advocate for healthy and fresh food in my region.
Waste
Find Local Recycling Depots
I will spend at least 30 minutes finding out where to recycle the recyclable items that I can't put in my curbside bin.
Waste
Personal Waste Audit
I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Food
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 2 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.

Amanda LeBon 10/10/2018 6:01 AMBrought my re-usable cup into a Dunkin yesterday and they refused to use it. Was a little upset, never had that issue before.-
Carey Compton 10/16/2018 6:09 PMI don't think I'd go back there if that's the case. WOW! -
Amanda LeBon 10/16/2018 5:46 AM@Katie they didn't think it was their level of clean. >.<

Amanda LeBon 10/04/2018 7:42 AMOur township has a recycling center on the municipality level that is open 6 days per week and then larger depots that accept more for the county level that happen twice a year.-
Amanda LeBon 10/10/2018 6:06 AMSo not sure how to reply to individual comments. The twice a year on the county level does accept e-waste. Our Municipality takes things like TVs and electronics to the goodwill. http://hamiltonnj.com/EcoFacility. During the summer they expand their hours. -
Carey Compton 10/09/2018 6:51 PMWOW! That is great! What township is that? Take me there :-) -
Nicole Kozlowski 10/05/2018 5:16 AMThat's great it's open 6 days a week. Do they collect e-waste there too? My township only has it open 5 days a week for only a few hours a day (last time I went there was 3 years ago so perhaps it has changed). At first I was annoyed they didn't take "all trash" types, but now that I know more about waste management and different types of recycling, I appreciate the more stringent rules.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? Do you know how your compost will be used and the benefits it has on the environment?
Amanda LeBon 9/28/2018 6:09 AMLove my tumbler composter, only small problem is removing the compost! :)-
Amanda LeBon 10/10/2018 6:08 AMLouisa, I do, and we usually use one raised bed to compost leaves and clippings. Which we have been doing long before I purchased the tumbler. -
Louisa Lubiak 9/29/2018 8:24 AMAmanda, removing the compost from your tumbler might be difficult but worth the effort. Do you use the compost in your garden?
