Leila Maidana-Holen 10/25/2018 7:18 AMI learned that I need to de-stress daily and the wide open spaces help me focus better. And last but not least, going meat free for a period of time does make more than a statement, as your tummy may decide that it prefers a meat-free diet going forward! Thank goodness for the soybean "meat" choice at the supermarket! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Know My healthHow do you deal with the physical and emotional stress of the big problems we face? How can you help others cope?
Leila Maidana-Holen 10/25/2018 7:14 AMI have left two good paying jobs because of the stress and I am happier for it. I still have some payday and bills stress, but I am able to work through it. I would suggest to others that things are manageable, even if you do not this so at the moment. I always ask people who may be facing a challenge, is your glass half-full or half-empty? That usually puts thing in perspective. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Leila Maidana-Holen 10/25/2018 7:11 AMI will invite others to walk with me. I did try and have a "meeting" during a walk but it was not too successful. Maybe if I leave the walk for more "mental health checkup" time and less work subjects, it would be better. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Work-Life BalanceIs practicing work-life balance difficult to do? How does it feel when you first begin? How does this feel for you after 21 days?
Leila Maidana-Holen 10/25/2018 7:10 AMIn the beginning, it was hard to stick to only working eight hours, but at the end, I did not waver and I stuck to my plan. This was successful for me! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go for a Daily WalkFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Leila Maidana-Holen 10/21/2018 9:55 AMI enjoy walking this time of year because the air is crisp and it encourages a person to not limit yourself. Even a ten-minute around the block helps clear the cobwebs and just stretch the mind and body. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Leila Maidana-Holen 10/21/2018 9:51 AMIt was relaxing to walk in the woods after a gentle rain the night before. Leaves that had fallen so far made a rustling noise as we walked and it was quite nice to smell the woods around us. -
Leila Maidana-Holen 10/08/2018 2:21 PMI am enjoying getting outside for short walks...I may have to drive to the mall to get in my walks or walk in the rain! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy From a Farmers MarketWhat is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?
Leila Maidana-Holen 10/02/2018 5:00 PMTo eat mainly legumes and not beans! I should eat more legumes than beans, but beans are so good! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Leila Maidana-Holen 10/02/2018 4:58 PMPart of the reason is that meat is inexpensive and why not eat it every meal! I prefer tofu or the fake meat, and once you have eaten it several times, you enjoy it! Not everyone likes oatmeal the first time they eat it.
