I actually was pleasantly surprised. I thought I was spending more than I am.

The Kinder Morgan pipeline MUST be stopped if Canada is going to have any chance of meeting its targets for the Paris Accord.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

North Americans really do love meat. Our version of Chinese food is mostly meat dishes. Most of our fast food joints are burger places. And big breakfasts at restaurants often come with bacon AND sausage. I don't really know why this is, but not many people challenge it. I'm not convinced that a 100% Vegan diet is necessary for individuals to combat climate change, but I do agree that it needs to be cut significantly. I think a single serving a few days a week is sufficient.

    Waste Compost Food Waste
New to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? Do you know how your compost will be used and the benefits it has on the environment?

I love that our city has an industrial facility capable of composting things like bones and cat litter. I'm not sure how the city uses it, though I think they might sell at least some of it. It is good for the environment because it diverts waste from landfills and instead puts the nutrients back into the ecosystem.

Amazing news, Eco Warriors! Canada's courts have overturned the approval of the Kinder Morgan Pipeline expansion. This is cause for major celebration!
