REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Replace Manual ThermostatsHow do you anticipate replacing your thermostats for programmable ones will positively impact your life?
Anthony Opocensky 10/24/2018 4:25 PMIt certainly makes my life easier! there are several setting that i can see making an impact. I am looking forward to seeing how it impacts my bills! just from setting it up I can see how it will have a positive impact, and how it will translate into environmental and cash savings. -
Anthony Opocensky 10/24/2018 4:23 PMLast day! Been a fun adventure for sure. Looking forward to next year! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Choose Organic IngredientsCan organic farming feed the world? Which side of the argument do you fall on? Why?
Anthony Opocensky 10/24/2018 9:17 AMI would say yes. You can still feed millions of people with organic methods. for a larger scale it will take some adapting, but the product will be better for the ecosystem, our bodies, and the earth as a whole. Will it take more resources, both intellectual and physical? Yes. But the industrious developed nations where this question would be asked have the resources if they truly wanted to to make the switch. it is definitely a privilege to ask that type of question and I think getting people food in the first place should be the first priority. Starting to do that in a responsible way would build the needed infrastructure. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Anthony Opocensky 10/22/2018 9:47 AMFor me it helps me stop to think about my life and the people/things around me. Even taking 2 minutes to think of 3 things that I feel good about that particular day often moves to me thinking about broader things and how my life is going in general. that brief time of introspection can really brighten up my day, or cause me to work harder realizing i have peopled depending on me, or that I should keep making the most out of this wonderful situation I am in. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater 5-Minute ShowersFive minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?
Anthony Opocensky 10/18/2018 3:16 PMI would imagine a next step could be reducing the total number of showers...to a degree, don't want to be stinking up the office but I am sure people know what I mean. Another step is more efficient appliances; toilets, washing machines and the like. Technology around this area is pretty impressive and those can really bump up the water savings. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Anthony Opocensky 10/17/2018 2:08 PMI enjoy exploring the new areas around my home, and realizing how close to some pretty awesome areas I live. I feel quite lucky to call the Pacific NW my home, and exploring natural areas in this urban center only adds to that feeling. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Anthony Opocensky 10/15/2018 1:48 PMI would like to add a bit of consistency in my sleep patterns. I have heard that that alone can help a lot. I am working to find ways to better manage my end and beginning of days. multiple alarms woks in the morning, though i would like a better solution. And a bit of reading in the evening helps me wind down. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Anthony Opocensky 10/08/2018 1:49 PMI enjoy playing team sports. And luckily I have a group of good people at work that are a joy to exercise with. This makes it so much easier to get exercise, and creates a good support group for me, as well as energizing me to commit to the activity frequently.
I also enjoy being out in nature, living in the northwest makes it easy to appreciate and see nature, while getting out there and getting some exercise. -
Anthony Opocensky 10/08/2018 1:46 PMAmazing how quickly these things can become habits when you have them tracked...Enjoying the changes for sure! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Choose Clean/Renewable EnergyHow might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?
Anthony Opocensky 10/04/2018 10:39 AMI think just telling my story will help. The utility company made it easy for me to make the switch, and if I let other simply know about it will help spread the word. It was a good experience for me and hopefully it will help people realize how easy it is to make the switch to clean energy, and how little extra cost there actually was.
