Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can be such a freeing action to take -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

I do like having less paper coming in that just ends up in the recycle bin. I did not complete signing up for my last couple of ebills during this challenge as I was away from home and didn't have the right paperwork with me. However I still plan to do this in the coming days. I should also notify charities that send me mail to switch to email communication as this will save paper and some expenses for the charity. Another step is to cancel my flyer delivery since I can look those up online.

    Nature Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

Exploring new areas helps me see the diversity and often under-appreciated value of the community in which we live. There is so much we often take for granted and I want to work towards taking time to absorb the magnitude of nature around me.

I can't believe it's the last day of the challenge! It flew by. I didn't accomplish everything I had hoped but this certainly made me more aware of some fairly simple changes I can make to help the environment and improve my appreciation of the world we live in.

There was a beautiful big bright moon visible over a funky bridge on our morning walk this morning. I should have snapped a picture!

Found a very nice park and riverfront trail area for a walk today. It was nice to get some fresh air before heading to conference sessions today.

It was a beautiful morning with lovely pink clouds among the sunrise.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
Father Thomas Berry says, "...our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." Respond to Berry's assertion.

There is so much beauty in a sunrise or sunset; we just need to take a moment to pause and recognize it. Taking this moment definitely makes me feel more connected to the Earth.

Slow and steady progress. These things are becoming regular habits now.

This challenge has added to our sense of community by promoting awareness and learning about resources available in our region. It has also banded our team together as we discuss our challenges and progress.
