Rotary is amazing! I chose actions that I thought would be interesting. Also there was a limit to what I could choose.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

I never accept plastic bags. It is easier for me because I carry a big purse :)

I often think about the people I encounter all all the wonderful things they do. I then make an effort to genuinely thank the people I encounter for their good deeds.

    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

Meat is more available and cheaper here.  Often it is easier/cheaper/more filling to pick up a fast food burger than a salad. Our economic policy prioritizes meat over vegetables, and our commercial (aka restaurants, advertising, etc) policy pushes meet as well. We need to address both of these, but at its core if we make eating vegetables cheaper and more convenient, people will do it more often. Just look at potatoes (aka fries)

    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

It does not surprise me. In landscaping.
