Katie Rose 10/03/2018 10:38 AMRotary is amazing! I chose actions that I thought would be interesting. Also there was a limit to what I could choose. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Katie Rose 10/03/2018 10:36 AMI never accept plastic bags. It is easier for me because I carry a big purse :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Katie Rose 10/03/2018 10:36 AMI often think about the people I encounter all all the wonderful things they do. I then make an effort to genuinely thank the people I encounter for their good deeds. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Katie Rose 10/03/2018 10:34 AMMeat is more available and cheaper here. Often it is easier/cheaper/more filling to pick up a fast food burger than a salad. Our economic policy prioritizes meat over vegetables, and our commercial (aka restaurants, advertising, etc) policy pushes meet as well. We need to address both of these, but at its core if we make eating vegetables cheaper and more convenient, people will do it more often. Just look at potatoes (aka fries) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
