Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 0 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Megan Rosta 10/22/2018 3:20 PMThe hardest thing about using a reusable mug is remembering to bring it with me when I leave the house. Sometimes I realize I want a drink after I've left the house. During this challenge, I have made an effort to tuck a reusable mug/cup into my bag with me in case I want to buy a drink throughout the day. I have also decided that if I want a drink but am already on my way home that I should run into my apartment and grab a cup to use for the drink. It's small things like this that have changed my thinking and don't add much time to my regular routine. -
Megan Rosta 10/11/2018 10:11 PMI decided to participate in this challenge because I am taking a waste management class this semester. One of our recent assignments was to complete an ecological footprint examination, and I was astounded by my results. I want to work harder to reduce my footprint, and holding myself accountable is a great first step.
