i once had a lovely herb garden, but people were always stealing the plants (they dug it up and stole it), so we eventually gave up on it.

water is good for the environment, it lowers blood sugar, slowly...

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Meet My Local Farmers
When you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?

when you know who made your food, you appreciate it more and it taste better. when you produce your own food, you eat more healthier and you feel better because you spent so much work for your meal.

some day ago, in 2011, my mother got the idea to start a community garden and we somehow managed to convince the guy who owned the property to allow us to do so. it was a very long process and very laborious. there was also a lot of trash, truckloads of many random items (we found a vacuum cleaner).
recently, this weekend, i visited the garden. it's amazing to think that  it used to be so different, and that my mother is the only reason why it's there.

    just a random post.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

i have my exercise routine right before i go to sleep, allowing there to be only one complication in the way. being a type 1 diabetic, i have to consider how exercise would affect my blood sugar. this means that whenever i am low or when my blood glucose is kinda low, i should do little exercise, maybe have a small snack, or avoid exercising  all together. other then this, i don't need to incorporate anything social (i'm not a social being), or natural (my routine is usually at night and i do not wish to go outside at midnight).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Plant an Herb Garden
Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

a plot of land works best for me because, we started out with an empty lot and turned it into, well not exactly a herb  garden, but a community garden. *cough* oak park sol, on  broadway *cough*. since we didn't construct the garden near our house and for the community, we didn't really have to include our living situation or lifestyle, although, if we were to make a garden at our house, we would have to still go with the plot of land.

It's fun to see how bare dirt can be transformed into lots of edible plants! That great that you helped start a community garden, Luna.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
Where are your nearest natural bodies of water? How might they be affected by runoff?

the nearest body of water is the Sacramento River.  runoff could make the water more muddy and make waste, such as plastic and metal scraps, less visible and harder to collect.

Another consideration is the use of pesticides in all the agriculture near the river that could make its way into our drinking water.
