I believe that the main water sources in our region is the two rivers, Sacramento and American, although i am not sure.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

No, i haven't really had a life altering experience in nature.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

People aren't switching to reusable water bottles because they may not see a need, or think they're too expensive. These are wrong thoughts because when you use a reusable one, you save lots of plastic from going into the ocean or just sitting in a landfill. It is also way less expensive than continuously buying plastic water bottle packs.

You make many great points, Ryley. Plastic throw aways stay around for a long time before they degrade and take a lot of energy to produce.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Turn it off
How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

    Ryley Trumble's avatar
    Ryley Trumble 10/11/2018 12:25 PM
Electricity is generated at a power plant and maybe through some dams that are close to our city. The dams may impact how animals near the lake/river find food or where they live.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Power Down the Computer
What are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?

    Ryley Trumble's avatar
    Ryley Trumble 10/09/2018 1:20 PM
I can spend more time outside, so that any energy that I was using inside (lights, computers, etc) are turned off and not in use.

This could also count for time spent in nature for a different challenge.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

I can turn off the water when I'm brushing my teeth, take less time washing my hands and face, and when I don't drink all of my water, I can water plants with the left over water.
