REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Prinda Wanakule 10/09/2018 7:31 PMMarketing campaigns by meat farmers, e.g. the "where's the beef" and "the other white meat", that popularized frequent eating of meats. Several other cultures view meat as sort of a condiment, used to enhance the flavor of veg/carb-centric dishes, but in North America, meat is the main event. I think it shows that people want the best for their children and communities, but also that we are now so far-removed from where our food comes from. If we all saw the life cycles of the animals that we eat, I think we would better appreciate them, and limit ourselves. What we need is to start helping people understand how much protein they actually need in their diet, and providing actionable information on veg-based alternatives and portion sizes needed to fulfill nutritional needs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Locally-Sourced MealsIf you were to only eat what is in season locally, what would be the hardest for you to give up?

Prinda Wanakule 10/09/2018 7:22 PMI just joined the challenge today. I got annoyed because there were so many things that I already did/do, and I realized I can get way more points for the team if I mark myself as "taking on the challenge" instead of marking that I've already done them. Irritating!-
Lisa Incatasciato 10/14/2018 5:43 PMI felt the same!
