Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 2 vegan meal(s) each day this week.

I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.

Take Control
Both system and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home.
Waste
Visit a Waste Management Facility
I will spend at least 30 minutes visiting a local dump/transfer station, material recovery facility, and/or landfill to learn about the waste stream.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Waste
Find Local Recycling Depots
I will spend at least 15 minutes finding out where to recycle the recyclable items that I can't put in my curbside bin.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Use an Energy MeterHow can you make your home more energy efficient?
Sarah Widder 10/25/2018 11:04 AMI struggled the most with this one. I still want to do it! But it took a real investment of time and energy that I wasn't able to find. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Personal Waste AuditWhy is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?
Sarah Widder 10/22/2018 7:49 AMOut of sight out of mind, the decision to reduce waste actually starts when you are bringing things INTO your house. Buying reduced packing products, more durable products, etc reduces the amount of waste you produce. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Sarah Widder 10/22/2018 7:48 AMHave more vegetarian options at restaurants! Celebrate veggies! Shift culture so that meat is not needed to make a meal "complete"!
