Now I am working to inspire my son to garden in his yard that has more sunshine. Thus, the new herb garden at his house.

Lisa Clifton 10/24/2018 7:24 PMThis has been a good EcoChallenge for me. I have worked hard on a number of things. I am still struggling to get myself to do my PT, but I will keep working at finding the time for it.
I am proud of our team and all that we have accomplished! -
Lisa Clifton 10/23/2018 7:35 PMI hiked in the National Forest a few days ago, and it was peaceful. Have you ever seen or eaten chanterelle mushrooms that were dried in place (popped up after our brief rains and dried with the subsequent dry weather)? I saw lots of them and took home a few to eat. Hum, we all had some intestinal problems from that, so I wouldn't really recommend it. I'll try fresh ones next time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant an Herb GardenConsider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?
Lisa Clifton 10/21/2018 6:10 PMI don't have much sun in my yard. I observed where there was sunshine and installed some raised beds in that area. I can garden in spring and summer, but by Sept., there is little to no sun on my beds.
Now I am working to inspire my son to garden in his yard that has more sunshine. Thus, the new herb garden at his house. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Use an Energy MeterHow can you make your home more energy efficient?
Lisa Clifton 10/21/2018 6:05 PMWe have done a lot of things to our house over the last 10 years to increase insulation, seal gaps where air was escaping, changed to LED lights, etc. We are good at turning off lights, etc. not in use. Using the Kill-a-Watt did not give me any new insights as I hoped it would. I know the behavior changes that need to happen, but not everyone in my family is ready to or can make those changes right now. -
Lisa Clifton 10/15/2018 6:45 PMI have been using a Kill-a-Watt meter. It is interesting, but I am finding that we don't have a lot of things plugged in that aren't in use. There is a TV that gets used a lot, but I don't think that will change because that family member just uses it a lot at this stage of their life. There are a few vampire loads but not too many. -
Lisa Clifton 10/14/2018 4:35 PMOne of my challenges in getting rid of things I am not using is that I think I should be able to get a little money for some of the more valuable things. But, I haven't had much success at selling them. I think I need to get over that, and remember that someone else will get some use and enjoyment out of them rather than them sitting in a garage or closet.-
Sara Harding Mihm 10/17/2018 8:09 AMLisa, I have the same challenge! I wonder if the key is to just pick *some* things to resell, and let everything else go. -
Alex Mihm 10/15/2018 4:07 PMOh man, if you could be a fly on the wall as Sara and I have --ahem-- calmly debated about how much selling vs. donating we should do when de-cluttering...

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Lisa Clifton 10/13/2018 7:00 PMSpending time outdoors orients me wherever I live. I like to notice where the sun rises and sets, know where north and south are, note major landmarks, even plants, etc. that I see every day on walks. All of these help me to feel a sense of place wherever I spend enough time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Lisa Clifton 10/12/2018 7:48 PMI love to walk with a friend to spend time with her while being outdoors and getting exercise. A hike in the woods, surfing with a friend, those are other ways to enjoy the exercise with someone else.-
Miriam Reeber 10/14/2018 12:42 PMHey Lisa, I would like to help you with this goal!

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My HomeHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Lisa Clifton 10/11/2018 7:52 PMThings accumulate! Being aware, saying "no" to free stuff I don't really need, avoiding single use items, remembering how clutter stresses me out...these are all things for me to be mindful of. -
Lisa Clifton 10/08/2018 9:35 PMI didn't do my meditation today. Hopefully, tomorrow!
