Molly Hester 10/24/2018 8:50 AMJust like that, this challenge is over. This has been a great tool to help keep in mind the impact you are leaving behind. Happy to say I will be continuing most of these. Looking forward to participating next year and can only hope for a greater impact! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Meet My Local FarmersWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
Molly Hester 10/22/2018 11:09 AMThe advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from are endless, as this helps you support and buy locally, helps one understand when produce is "in season" or not. This also helps bridge the gap between farm and fork. Our food system relies on trusting the people and environment that were involved along the way. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Molly Hester 10/22/2018 10:23 AMBeing mindful helps with everything you do, often when I eat with no distractions, I tend to slow down, take longer to each and really savor the food rather than scarf it down. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Fix Leaky FaucetsFixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency?
Molly Hester 10/22/2018 10:15 AMWe have been needing to fix the two leaky faucets in our bathroom and finally got around to doing so this weekend, any little drop will help increase our water efficiency and cause us to be more mindful when using the water, trying to reduce water running for no reason. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Have a Garage SaleBuilding community is good for your soul and fun to do! What were some of the positive outcomes that came out of your group garage sale?
Molly Hester 10/22/2018 9:16 AMLots of things, like meeting new neighbors, creating relationships, networking, just getting out of the house! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Mulch the Base of Trees and PlantsWhere are your nearest natural bodies of water? How might they be affected by runoff?
Molly Hester 10/19/2018 9:21 AMWe are close to the Willamette River. If is was to rain a considerable amount within a short period of time, it would impact the streets, sidewalks and landscapes if it was to overflow. As it flows over the land surface, storm water picks up potential pollutants that may include sediment, nutrients (from lawn fertilizers), bacteria (from animal and human waste), pesticides (from lawn and garden chemicals), metals (from rooftops and roadways), and petroleum by-products (from leaking vehicles). Pollution originating over a large land area without a single point of origin and generally carried by storm water is considered non-point pollution. In contrast, point sources of pollution originate from a single point, such as a municipal or industrial discharge pipe. Polluted storm water runoff can be harmful to plants, animals, and people. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy From a Farmers MarketWhat is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?
Molly Hester 10/19/2018 9:10 AMBe more mindful and less wasteful on things you consume. Make sure you know where your food comes from, buying local is always the best option.
