REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Jody James 10/03/2018 11:46 AMI am generally an indoor person. I don't enjoy extremely hot or cold weather -which makes October in Idaho a great time to appreciate the outdoors since it is so mild. While I am not certain that I need it for spiritual and emotional development, I know that by spending time outside, I find myself feeling calm and centered and connected. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Jody James 10/03/2018 11:44 AMPracticing gratitude places the focus of my energy inward to my perception of an event. For today's gratitude, I thanked a co-worker for helping me find the best resource to learn a new tool. By choosing to focus on his effort to name a resource and the resources efforts to guide, teach and assist me, I pull the negative attention away from "I don't know how" and turn it to "I will learn how" and that shift in mentality leads to an overall feeling of success and gratitude. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Jody James 10/03/2018 11:40 AMI actually forgot that this was one of my goals. Of course, by the time I logged in and saw it, the damage was done with the eating I've done so far. I recommit to mindful eating - for the rest of today, the rest of the challenge and ideally, for life.
