REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Power Down the ComputerWhat are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?
CALVIN KARSCH 10/17/2018 8:59 AMOperate a stationary bike workstation to power my computer. Doesn't seem like a viable option though since the energy consumption will most likely out weight the energy output. Solar powered work stations seem like a better alternative. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Adjust the ThermostatYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
CALVIN KARSCH 10/12/2018 1:40 PMOur household is below the median energy usage for our area. However, being an older home some items remain on or running longer due to their age. Long-term plans are to update and upgrade appliances as needed and the entire electrical wiring for the house. This will help reduce our energy usage and cost. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
CALVIN KARSCH 10/03/2018 9:03 AMThe amount of food waste is surprising to me. If my family fell into this category, I would use it towards gaining finical freedom as well as donating a portion to a local food bank. -
CALVIN KARSCH 10/03/2018 8:48 AMExcited to see how these challenges will lead to long term changes for myself and others.
