  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Public Transit
The US spends roughly 20% of its federal budget on defense. In contrast, 2% goes to education, 20% goes to social security and 3% goes to transportation infrastructure. Do these numbers surprise you at all? Why or why not?

While these numbers don't necessarily surprise me, I do think that the US could allocate their funds in a way that better supports the public.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Avoid refined sugar
Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?

    Kara Kindt 10/12/2018 12:06 PM
I didn't eat a lot of refined sugar before, so I wouldn't say I was addicted. Removing what I did eat wasn't hard.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

Take quicker showers and install low flow fixtures.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Kara Kindt's avatar
    Kara Kindt 10/04/2018 9:42 AM
When I walk, I notice a lot more of the neighborhood quirks
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

The amount of food waste in the US is pretty out of control. If I saved $1,500 a year it would probably go toward vacations.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
