This was a great challenge, I am so glad I participated! I have been more mindful of my time spent outdoors and have cleaned up my recycling habits. This was a wonderful opportunity! :)

    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

I have switched to reusable mugs, but could be even better with using them more frequently.  I do occasionally buy coffee and get singe use coffee cups (I make sure to recycle them) but could buy a reusable mug from that particular location and request to use my personal mug.  It makes me feel like I am using resources wisely, reducing trash, and picking out fun reusable mugs helps.

I practice self care by eating right, exercising, trying to avoid and handle stress the best I can, spend time with friends and family, enjoy hobbies, and practicing my faith.

    Energy Turn it off
How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

Energy is generated by electricity where I live and I know this impacts the environment in a negative way. I live in an apartment building where a lot of the units face each other. I can see that there are a good number of people who leave lights on continuously through the night in their entire apartment (a four-room space). It makes me think of my dad who would always say, "Are you paying the electric bill?" if I didn't turn a light off after leaving a room.

I have to wonder why it is that my fellow apartment dwellers leave all the lights on ALL NIGHT. Why does their entire space need to lit? How can they possibly be in all four rooms at once? This has to have a negative impact on the environment because it's just a waste of energy.

    Community Support Native Communities
Indigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?

Most ecosystems fluctuate within a range of tolerances where higher levels of one resource or force push balancing levels in other areas. When a new factor or force is introduced, it can take awhile for the system to achieve it's new balance.  Making wise choices about consumption helps preserve that balance instead of using up resources that become unavailable.

MOVING BOXES FOR SHOPPING.  I have flattened 6 of my moving boxes and now take them into the stores,  pop them open and use them instead of the store plastic bags.  Plus they hold more weight than bags and the box slots for carrying are convenient and more durable and reusable.  Wish I would have done this sooner.

UNPACKED.  I finished unpacking after my move and recycled all boxes either by giving them to others needing boxes or in the recycle bin.
