Pat's actions
Nature
Do Nature Activities
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 10 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Health
Take Control
Both system and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Pat Altendorfer 10/17/2018 8:28 AMI am now using bags that are reusable for groceries, etc. I am refusing plastic bags and asking store managers to carry paper or sell reusable bags. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureWhat did you observe while spending time outside -- through sight, sound, smell and touch?
Pat Altendorfer 10/17/2018 8:27 AMI observed tranquility, pure unconditional love from wildlife, the beautiful colors of the many species of trees, sounds of water from the waterfall hitting the pond. -
Pat Altendorfer 10/09/2018 6:18 AMMy challenge is going well and in fact, it proved for me that I can set aside 15 minutes for me and the environment!
