Paper Towels are free, or is it?
At work and outside, I see people pulling a bunch of paper towels to dry their wet hands in bathrooms. This is a waste of resources. We have to limit use of paper towels and its' really easy to dry your wet hand completely with just one.
Health
Take Control
Both system and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 5 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.

Anand Athinarayanan 10/15/2018 3:27 AMI created a new challenge for something that I've been doing for a long time. Limit use of paper towels and/or use just one to dry your wet hands at bathrooms in your workplace and outside. Paper towels may look free but they come at a heavy cost for the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterFive minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?
Anand Athinarayanan 10/11/2018 6:57 AMI modified this challenge a bit. In addition to timing my shower time I bought a 3.5 Gallon bucket and a small cup. In the shower I filled up the bucket and used the cup to bathe. I had to fill the bucket 4 times up to the brim. So now I know I actually used 14Gallons of water for my morning shower. I never would have known this if I just stood under the shower :) -
