The challenge is going well. I am really wishing there were more resources closer to where I live. Having to commutes so far in order to get to farmer's markets and recycling facilities is a bummer.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

I think the reason American eat more meat than other places is because Americans believe that meat is the best form of protein, its a symbol of wealth for a lot of communities and its in most dishes at restaurants and fast food places. A few suggestions on ways to help our culture understand that there are other choices to lead a sustainable diet and actually change the way we think about food are ways of shifting to less meat consumption are asking restaurants to provide meatless options that are palatable and teaching our children that meatless meals are important and tasty as meals with meat in them.
