Kate's actions
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 20 minute(s) each day.
Transportation
Go by Bike
I will commute by bike 1 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 0.73 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Kate Barber 10/22/2018 2:48 AMNext challenge: Convince coworkers we need to do "walking meetings" in nature to maximize health benefits while we get work done! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Kate Barber 10/22/2018 2:47 AMI love how this weekly meal planning challenge has helped me eat healthier more consistently! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Kate Barber 10/18/2018 4:46 AMThere are two things that would help me "seal the deal" on my new habit of bringing my reusable cup.
1) Find a cup, which will seal really well and I can throw in my work bag on the go without having to worry about it leaking on to my laptop.
2) Just remember the cup and take it with me everywhere I go! Practice makes perfect.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Kate Barber 10/16/2018 6:56 AMWhat I've found interesting to see in just a short time...Now that I'm taking action to get more sleep, the benefits of this are extending to other parts of my life! After a good night's sleep, I feel healthier and more rested. So I can do better at work and have more energy to cook healthy meals and exercise! Triple win! -
Kate Barber 10/12/2018 5:52 AMI've been doing great at some Challenges (reusable cup, meal planning) and less at others. (cycling daily!) I guess I'm learning that better to make a few big changes at a time... maybe I'll get better at the rest in week 2 & 3! Keep up the good work, Team! -
Kate Barber 10/08/2018 3:17 AMWeekly meal prep seems like a small, simple thing, but it goes a long way in limiting the need for wasteful take-out packaging! Eating out and having food delivered adds up, not just in terms of our waist lines but waste! -
Kate Barber 10/04/2018 12:26 PMHey Team! Don’t forget to return to your Dashboard (top menu) to log your completed actions each day.
