Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Turn it offHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Angelica Barcenas 10/24/2018 2:05 PMIt is generated through a power station....ComED. All energy sources impact our environment, animals and humans. It harms our environment, which leads to global warming. And this effects all living humans and animals. We need to start finding more use of solar energy, which is one of cleanest sources of energy. It does not release any gas or pollutes the air. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Angelica Barcenas 10/17/2018 12:10 PMAmericans love a good steak and burgers! However, I feel with so much talk on Vegan and healthy eating Americans are changing the way they eat. I think everyone needs to cut down on meat and start to think of ways to still have a good meal without the meat. There are many meatless dishes that you can cook full of flavor. Also, we need to start with our children, so they can also develop good eating habits from the beginning. -

Angelica Barcenas 10/17/2018 11:38 AMThe sleeping challenge is the one that is the hardest, so far so good! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Angelica Barcenas 10/03/2018 4:36 PMI use plastic bags very regularly, but have started using my reusable bags as often as I can, which is very easy to do. What I find hard is remembering to carry the reusable bags with me, so I have started leaving them in my car and it helps me remember to use them more often. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Angelica Barcenas 10/03/2018 4:33 PMI would like to be able to get 8 hours of sleep daily, right now I bumped it up from 6 to 7, little by little I hope to get to the 8. We all know that when we do not get enough sleep we suffer in so many ways (weight, mood, etc.). It has helped me get more hours of sleep when I get my stuff ready for the next day (get clothes ready for work, know what I will take for lunch) because I get to sleep in a few extra minutes. Also, when I turn off my phone for the day and not continue looking at email. Also, I feel a warm shower an hour before bedtime helps me sleep better than waiting right before going to bed.
