Abigail's actions

Health

Happiness

I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.

COMPLETED 4
DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Skip the Straw

Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

COMPLETED 13
DAILY ACTIONS

Healthy Sleep

Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.

COMPLETED 8

Use a Reusable Mug

I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.

COMPLETED 10
DAILY ACTIONS

Transportation

Walk Instead

I will walk 5 mile(s) each day instead of driving and avoid sending up to 6.7 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

By participating in this challenge, I have not only used less disposable cups, but I have also spent less money on coffee because I have been making my coffee with my Keurig (with my reusable K-cup). Overall win-win.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

I've been making a conscious effort to go bed earlier at night and take less naps or shorter naps during the day in order to increase productivity. On average, Ive been going to bed approximately one hour earlier than I have been in the last month. Hopefully after a while of doing this consistently I will see a change in my alertness during the day.
