Michelle's actions
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by opting into paperless billing and ending unwanted subscriptions.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Carry my Trash
I will carry all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash with me to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Community
Raise Money For a Nonprofit
I will raise money to support Northwest Earth Institute or another local nonprofit.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Raise Money For a NonprofitHow do/can NWEI programs help you develop a stronger sense of community?
Michelle Bell 10/18/2018 6:25 AMWe are hosting a haunted house at my home to raise money and food donations for our local food pantry in Peru NY. October 31, 2018 from 6:30 pm - 10 pm. 31 Twin Creek Dr., Peru, NY 12972. Everything in the Haunt has been constructed from recycling materials that have been discarded such as high styrofoam, wood pallets, plastic bottles, old dolls, old furniture. You'd be amazed of how an artist can transform garbage into a work of art. Come by to see and to participate in a fun and scary experience. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Carry my TrashWhat one thing could you do right away to reduce your waste?
Michelle Bell 10/17/2018 1:50 PMSurprisingly enough, I didn't have much trash to carry. I've been using reusable insulated travel mugs for my water and tea, and a reusable lunch bag and containers. I end up carrying just a protein bar wrapper and one a tea bag. Not much at all. Think if everyone else in the world were doing the same thing. -
