Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper each day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhile water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?
Mireia Brau Ruiz 10/24/2018 3:33 PMEven if we get a water bottle at home, we always make sure it is reused and/or recycled. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Mireia Brau Ruiz 10/24/2018 3:32 PMLess eating out! More reusing baby items. Repairing instead of replacing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Mireia Brau Ruiz 10/24/2018 3:31 PMIf I just forgot the bag in the car, I leave the items in the cart and fill the reusable bags in the car. If I have no cart or it is for some reason not possible, I make sure the plastic bag is being used again, several times if possible, at home. And if there is paper bag, all the best.. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteChoosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?
Mireia Brau Ruiz 10/16/2018 1:29 PMI believe it may have its origin in meat being a "food for the rich" and a "luxury" in the past. People would feel that they were "climbing the social ladder" by having access to meat more often. -
Mireia Brau Ruiz 10/16/2018 1:28 PMI think this is really helpful!
