Emma's Actions

Weekly Meal Planning

I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.

I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.

De-Clutter My Home

I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home.

Tend a Garden

I will tend to a garden each day, or work on starting one.

    Gratitude journal:
Asked Comcast for a discount, they lowered my bill and increased my speed. Yes!
I’ve paid off one student loan.
I’ve got a game plan for my other debts AND am tucking money into a savings account too.

    Gratitude journal-
    1. cooler days are back
    2. day 12 of no cigarettes - yay for patches!
    3. budgeting is making a positive impact - have a 2 week cushion for my expenses
It says I need seven more characters.  This should more than cover it.
  • Reflection Question
    Simplicity De-Clutter My Home
How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

I am aware of my tendency to accumulate stuff.  I have also been slowly de-cluttering for the past few months.  I'm also trying to save for retirement.  Remembering my goals, and the time I have committed to getting ridding of excess stuff, helps me to think twice before purchasing something else that I just don't need.

I tend to be happier when I am grateful for what I do have, family, friends, a career, and good health insurance (and gerbils).

    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

No it doesn't surprise me.  However, I'm not the average family.  I try to buy things as needed, especially perishables.  So my pantry is stocked but my fridge seems empty.  Produce is processed within a day or two of getting home, and frozen so it lasts longer.
