Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
Racial inequity is a sustainability problem. I will support businesses owned by people of color in my community whenever I shop.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Community
Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 6 hour(s) in my community during the challenge.
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of C02 over the course of the next year.
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Water
Eco-friendly Gardening
I will plant native species, landscape with water-efficient plants, and use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Waste
Personal Waste Audit
I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Community
Express My Support
I will find out who in my state makes decisions that impact the environment and express my support for more environmental actions.

Launch a Recycling Program
I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.

Micaela Busack 10/11/2018 10:30 AMI'm really enjoying this challenge so far and I'm excited that PCC is involved in this. I've been working toward a zero waste lifestyle for a couple of years now and I think the piece that I've been missing is figuring out how to implement community involvement, so I really appreciate that there are daily goals related to community action.
