Waste

Skip the Straw

Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

I got a cool reusable straw from an exhibit at the Jordan Schnitzer art museum going on about plastics - I definitely recommend this as a beautiful, educational display. (You could choose from a straw or reusable take-out utensils if you fill out their survey.)

I play a song (or sometimes sing!) while I'm in the shower and try to race the song to finish my shower before it ends. This has made this challenge really fun! My next step to water conservation will be looking at how I use water in the kitchen for dishes and cooking and seeing if there are ways to be more efficient.
