  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Michael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?

I believe it is totally true. If you put good food in your body, there will be less aches and pains that you need to go to the doctor for.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

I have learned that it has to be specific things that can be recycled. Recycling is vital, but in my view, I believe that reducing waste and reusing our things can make a greater impact.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How can we start shifting from a meat-focused food culture to a more plant-based one?

I think we strive to have access, and today that is really what a lot of people live for. I think if people knew better and had a guide of sorts to help them get started, they would make the shift to a diet with more plants rather than meat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?

    Carson Ciesinski's avatar
    Carson Ciesinski 8/30/2018 5:34 AM
Environmental health dictates the health of my community, and the health of my community directly impacts my personal health.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How do you deal with the physical and emotional stress of the big problems we face? How can you help others cope?

I just breathe and work through it, and I feel if others did this they would also be able to effectively work through struggle.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

    Carson Ciesinski's avatar
    Carson Ciesinski 8/30/2018 5:32 AM
I believe it keeps you grounded in who you are, and it makes a connection that lets you understand what you can do to help your community.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
If you were to only eat what is in season locally, what would be the hardest for you to give up?

It would be most difficult for me to give up avocados
