Theresa's actions
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 35 minute(s) each day.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Food
Meet My Local Farmers
I will visit my nearest farm to find out who produces my food, and will learn about the quality of life of those who produce my food in other regions of the world to make better choices when I shop.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Transportation
Drive Less
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips.

Theresa Combs 10/25/2018 9:05 AMI learned to plan my errands and appointments so that I only go out once and no backtracking. It's not something I thought about before, conserving gas and reducing my impact on the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Theresa Combs 10/09/2018 8:58 AMMy sister in law and I have a friendly exercise challenge going. We will text a pic to each other after we workout. That gives us plenty to talk about and catch up on, different workouts, if they were fun or not, how we felt the next day. The workouts are always more enjoyable if we can get outdoors. The weather here is crazy unpredictable, so there is treadmill as the back up everyday. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Theresa Combs 10/09/2018 8:55 AMMy struggle has been picking up my phone when I am laying down to sleep. I've started having it in a different room and if I am struggling to fall asleep I will pick up a book instead. My eyes get tired real quick while reading at night and then I fall asleep quicker. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Meet My Local FarmersWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
Theresa Combs 10/04/2018 12:39 PMIt's great to know where you food is coming from, how the animals are treated, or what it put in soil to grow your veggies. I discovered a local milk delivery company, the milk is 24-48 hours fresh by time it hits your doorstep. No travelling or preservatives. I signed up for milk and eggs weekly. I love that I am supporting a small business, keeping the money in our community and helping a family grow their business. -
Theresa Combs 10/03/2018 10:52 AMNo Refined Sugar! Drinking ice cold water instead of soda, and making my own coffee creamer at home feels great:)
