Heat and Cool Naturally

I will naturally heat and cool my house, office, or dorm room by opening or closing my windows, curtains, and blinds, and by using fans.

Adjust the Thermostat

I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.

Food

Zero-Waste Cooking

I will cook 1 meal(s) with zero-waste each day

COMPLETED 3

Waste

Skip the Straw

Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 4 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Turning off the lights when no one is there is essential to saving your electricity usage or if you are a person who sleeps with the tv on make sure you set the sleep timer so the tv is not on all night.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-Waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

One less straw, one less plastic bottle or bag can make the world a whole new place if we all did our parts to reuse old plastics, reduce new plastics you take or throw away, refuse new plastic bags, repair what you can to extend its life cycle and repurpose unconventional items to help you in your journey to reduce the number of plastics that end up in our oceans.
