Chris's actions
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Simplicity
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Food
Plant an Herb Garden
I will plant an herb garden in my home, workplace, or dorm room.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of C02 over the course of the next year.
Participant Feed

Chris D'Antonio 10/03/2018 12:37 PM0.3kWh! I had no idea running a washer with cold water used such little electricity! And apparently detergent can sometimes even be better in cold water. Definitely good inspiration here on coldwatersaves.org. I need to remember more consistently to adjust the water temperature before blindly starting the wash (because it defaults to warm/hot... :/)
