Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

    Aaron Durnbaugh 10/22/2018 12:00 PM
Why haven't I taken a hike the entire time of this challenge?
Do I really not spend as much time in nature as I thought?
    Hmmmm. This is disappointing.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Work from Home
It takes the average worker in the United States 26 minutes to travel to work. One way to fix long commutes would be to make cities more affordable. An even simpler option: promote the use of telework. Are you in an industry that would allow you to work from home? What are some obstacles you might find yourself facing while working from home?

Things are so busy I haven't been able to work from home like I committed to!
Will I find three more days before the end of the challenge?
Will commitments on campus  keep me from this attempt?
    Stay tuned and we'll see......

Anyone have any thoughts on how to remember to check in over a long weekend (say Fall Break?). Looking for tips. Thanks
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

I'm not gonna say this is easy at Loyola, because its still something you have to remember to do but since we banned bottled water in 2013, its kind of a no-brainer.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Know My health
How do you deal with the physical and emotional stress of the big problems we face? How can you help others cope?

Thanks Loyola for our annual Wellness program. I was glad to get my annual flu shot and blood work during a convenient time here on campus.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-Waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

Took my own container to Engrained for my quiche. They were really helpful in reducing my waste!

Whooo! We've already got 12 team members. That's great but I know we can do more Team Ramblers! Try to get two people each day to sign up and we'll grow exponentially. Lets do this!

That's great Net Impact LUC!  Maybe other student clubs can participate and you can see which club can get the most Ramblers to take sustainable actions?
