I like to shop and that is why I chose this challenge as I know I buy more than I really need.  My other challenge is that I walk in the nearby mall during lunch and am tempted to shop rather than walk.  This challenge has kept me focused on the greater good and not to fall for sales (an there have been some good ones).  I am hoping that at the end of the 3 weeks, I will pause and think before I purchase.

I am finding that the more I think about my purchases, I make better choices.  For instance today I needed to purchase my lunch.  I ended up getting a sandwich from a local restaurant, made it a veggie sandwich and got a side salad rather than chips.  Healthier and more sustainable too.

I first started off looking up our local recycling service that serves my community.  I was dismayed that they do not recycle as much as I thought they did.  They really only want paper, cardboard, clean and dry plastics and cans.  I do now understand why they don't want plastic bags and such.  I also found out that they do not want pieces that are smaller than a credit card as they get caught in their machinery.

So true.  We think we can recycle everything but it isn't that easy!
