Waste
Recycle Everything I Can
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 10 minutes researching and recycling all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community.
Simplicity
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
Simplicity
Track my Purchases
I will spend 5 minutes each day maintaining a record of all my purchases and learning about my spending habits.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Track my PurchasesWhat have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?
Nancy Ebner 10/11/2018 1:03 PMI like to shop and that is why I chose this challenge as I know I buy more than I really need. My other challenge is that I walk in the nearby mall during lunch and am tempted to shop rather than walk. This challenge has kept me focused on the greater good and not to fall for sales (an there have been some good ones). I am hoping that at the end of the 3 weeks, I will pause and think before I purchase. -
Nancy Ebner 10/10/2018 4:08 PMI am finding that the more I think about my purchases, I make better choices. For instance today I needed to purchase my lunch. I ended up getting a sandwich from a local restaurant, made it a veggie sandwich and got a side salad rather than chips. Healthier and more sustainable too. -
Nancy Ebner 10/05/2018 4:14 PMI first started off looking up our local recycling service that serves my community. I was dismayed that they do not recycle as much as I thought they did. They really only want paper, cardboard, clean and dry plastics and cans. I do now understand why they don't want plastic bags and such. I also found out that they do not want pieces that are smaller than a credit card as they get caught in their machinery.-
Scott Beckerman 10/09/2018 5:27 AMSo true. We think we can recycle everything but it isn't that easy!
