Water
Insulate Water Pipes and Water Heater
I will avoid wasting water while waiting for the shower or sink to heat up.
Health
Take Control
Both system and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.
Transportation
Car Share
I will sign up for a car-sharing service, or organize car sharing with my neighbors, to cut down on the number of vehicles on the road.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Car ShareTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Alyssa Fennyery 10/17/2018 4:20 PMWhen I'm going somewhere I usually always ride share with someone else! We go to dinner, out to the mall, on hikes, to the grocery store and the movies. It's always great to ride share to help save the environment! -

Alyssa Fennyery 10/16/2018 10:03 AMThe weather today is kind of chilly but still ideal for a walk! I know I enjoy breathing in all the fresh air! What would we do without it? -
Alyssa Fennyery 10/15/2018 10:39 AMThis week is the first meeting for our Roots and Shoots club on campus! Hopefully the people who attend will give us some new ideas on how to make our campus a better environment!! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Take ControlHow do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?
Alyssa Fennyery 10/11/2018 10:33 AMEnvironmental health, community health, and your personal health all intersect because activities that promote health and extend human life can have adverse environmental effects which continues into your community and your personal health. For example, food production causes environmental damage from pesticides and fertilizers, soil salinization, waste produced by livestock, carbon emissions from food manufacturing and transportation, deforestation, and over-fishing. Health care facilities also have adverse environmental impacts. Hospitals use large quantities of electricity and fossil fuels and produce medical wastes. To prevent some diseases, it may be necessary to damage the environment. -
Alyssa Fennyery 10/09/2018 10:29 AMI think this challenge is going pretty well. Going strong and logging in for a whole week now. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Insulate Water Pipes and Water HeaterHow do you think climate change will affect your region’s water supply? Think about the effects of weather, storms, salinity, and sea level rise, among other changes. How can you find out more about climate change’s impact to your region's water?
Alyssa Fennyery 10/09/2018 10:28 AMWater resources are important to both society and ecosystems. We depend on a reliable, clean supply of drinking water to sustain our health. Climate change will affect our region's water supply by transporting the waste and pollutants through the water. The weather will be worse and the storms more powerful and damaging. You can look up how climate change impacts our regions waters, and then find some ways to help. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Have a Garage SaleBuilding community is good for your soul and fun to do! What were some of the positive outcomes that came out of your group garage sale?
Alyssa Fennyery 10/04/2018 10:42 AMSome positive outcomes that come out of the group tag/garage sales that my town puts on are you contribute to not throwing away things that you don't need anymore. Also you meet new people and recycle your objects through other people. Just because some objects are no use to you doesn't mean that they can't be used by others. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Volunteer in my CommunityWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
Alyssa Fennyery 10/03/2018 1:48 PMOne thing that I can do to help my community become more sustainable is host clean ups or clean up the area with my family or a group and then start recruiting more and more people to help. I can also start recycling and telling people to skip the straw and to try to reduce the waste. I can make sure that they know where all of our waste goes because it doesn't just go away. We could also start a community garden and I know back in my town at home, someone recently started a "Make Monson Beautiful Club" which is volunteers trying to make my small little town better. Which of course I am going to be apart of :)
