The challenge I decided on was not to use plastic bags when I am shopping.  So far, I have invested in two reusable tote bags that I use to now do any shopping that I do.  I also use large purses sometimes so this helps when I need to run out for one or two things on an errand.  I had a "run-in" with a woman at target who assumed I stole something when I went through self-checkout because I was just holding the item that I purchased since I skipped the plastic bag.  I had to go back to the self-checkout and grab the receipt from my transaction to show her.  She believed me, but I suppose I looked a little off walking out with an item in my hand.  Maybe the bag acts as a sort of signal to let the people around us know that we have been through the check out. I have yet to do a grocery haul, so we will see how that fits in my two tote bags!
